LULAC Membership Dues – February 28 Deadline
National, State and District membership fees are due. Packets are being mailed out this week (Jan. 11-15) from district and state. You should have received your packet from the national office last week. If you haven’t your packets within the next week, please contact the following people:

Note: Packets are being mailed out to the address of the council president listed in the last membership roster turned in (March 2009). If the person is no longer president, make sure to contact him or her to get the packet. Please make every effort to turn in membership rosters – typed. Handwritten rosters with writing that is not legible may result in members not receiving their LULAC information from National, State and District leaders.
Free Legal Help
Many LULAC Councils often receive phone calls from the public asking for legal assistance. The Dallas Bar Association sponsors free legal advice phone lines on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of each month. "LegalLine," an anonymous telephone hotline, is staffed by volunteer attorneys who will answer your legal questions for FREE by answering phone calls from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There are Spanish-speaking attorneys when available. The telephone number to call is 214.220.7476. Callers are welcome to call with any kind of legal question.
LULAC District Convention
The LULAC District III Convention will take place Saturday, April 10, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Eastfield College, Pleasant Grove Campus, located at 802 S. Buckner Blvd., Dallas, TX 75217. Businesses wishing to sponsor the convention, sponsor a booth or place an advertisement in the convention program may contact LULAC District III Deputy District Director Jesse Garcia at jessegarciadallas@gmail.com.
LULAC State Convention
The 2010 Texas LULAC State Convention will take place June 2-6, 2010, at the Austin Hilton Airport Hotel, located at 9515 Hotel Drive, Austin TX 78719.
LULAC National Convention
The 2010 National LULAC Convention and Expo will take place July 12-17, 2010, at the Albuquerque Convention Center, located at 401 Second St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Convention hotels: Hyatt Regency Albuquerque - 800.233.1234 and Double Tree Hotel Albuquerque - 505.247.7000.

With approximately 115,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is the largest and oldest Hispanic Organization in the United States. LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 700 LULAC councils nationwide. The organization involves and serves all Hispanic nationality groups.
Historically, LULAC has focused heavily on education, civil rights, and employment for Hispanics. LULAC councils provide more than a million dollars in scholarships to Hispanic students each year, conduct citizenship and voter registration drives, develop low income housing units, conduct youth leadership training programs, and seek to empower the Hispanic community at the local, state and national level.
North Texas LULAC District III serves 27 counties and extends to the border of Texas and Oklahoma, east to the Texas Louisiana border and south of Dallas into Ellis County.
District III is made up of the following counties in Northeast Texas: Archer, Bowie, Clay, Camp, Cass, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Franklin, Grayson, Gregg, Harrison, Hopkins, Hunt, Jack, Kaufman, Lamar, Marion, Montague, Morris, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, Wichita, Wise, Wood and Young.
